Brief History
The Arundel Town Council has a rich history that began with its first mention in the Domesday survey of 1086. Originally led by a mayor and elected burgesses, the council evolved significantly with the Local Government Act of 1835, embracing a more inclusive governance structure. Although borough status changed in 1974, many cherished traditions endure, including the Mayor’s ceremonial parades, celebrating our vibrant community spirit!
